Pultec’s passive EQs—introduced over 50 years ago—became mainstays for mastering, as well as for vocals, bass, guitar, and more. With their gentle tone-shaping talents, the EQP-1A (highs and lows) and MEQ-5 (midrange) set a standard for passive EQs that remains unchallenged to this day.

The original Pultec EQs have a well-earned reputation for sonic purity. Acclaimed producer/engineer Jack Joseph Puig has two of the finest examples of these rare, hand-built EQs in his studio. We modeled the units under his guidance for fidelity to the analog originals.

The Pultec EQP-1A is renowned for its unique ability to boost and cut the same frequencies simultaneously, creating a unique resonant shelf. Thousands of classic recordings have used this feature to great effect, to enhance the low end.
